Henley and Longford Updates

Dear Residents and Local Businesses,

Here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, to let you know some of what we've been busy dealing with:

PATROLS

Officers have been carrying out patrols of the Henley and Longford areas on foot and in vehicles. We have been paying particular attention to locations that have recently experienced an increase in crime such as Riley Square and Hillmorton Road.

ARRESTS

One person has been arrested by officers on the team for a robbery that occurred in Binley.

HOUSING

We are working closely with housing associations such as Citizen, Stonewater, Midland Heart and Orbit to keep them informed of any of their tenants who are repeatedly involved in crime and anti-social behaviour, because it is a breach of their tenancy agreement. We are also carrying out joint visits with the housing officers to some addresses.

BURGLARY

We have had two burglaries in the Henley and Longford area.

The first burglary occurred between 23:00 on 02/07/2025 and 07:00hrs on 03/07/25 on Lapworth Road, Wood End where a property was broken into and belongings including electronics were stolen. If you have heard or seen anything that may be suspicious, please contact us on 101 quoting 20/297661/25.

The second burglary occurred between 21:00 on 04/07/2025 and 11:00hrs on 05/07/25 on Phillips Walk where a property was broken into and a vehicle stolen - we have since located and recovered the vehicle. If you have heard or seen anything that may be suspicious, please contact us on 101 quoting 20/298844/25.

We will continue to pay some passing attention for reassurance to residents. For crime prevention advice on how to keep your homes safe, you can visit our website here: Crime prevention advice | West Midlands Police

NUISANCE MOTORBIKES

The use of Off Road bikes is illegal and that we will work with partners to address those that are persistently using these bikes in an antisocial manner. This could result in action against people’s tenancies for their homes, alongside any criminal enforcement that is taken by Police. There is also a City Wide Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) which will result in a fine when riders are identified.

The team are actively putting intelligence together around illegal bikes, the people using them and where they are being kept. We also have a number of operations planned throughout the summer alongside our Traffic Team. We are also aware of a number of reports made to us relating to off-road bikes in and around Bell Green.

We ask that you remain vigilant and where safe to do so, take as much detail about the rider or the bikes, including distinguishing colours of clothing, bikes or any key locations where these bikes start and report this to Police so we can continue to build on the wealth of information that people are providing in relation to this issue. Under Operation Prosperity, we now have a QR code system where the public can upload footage anonymously, all information can be found here: Operation Prosperity - Send us your footage of antisocial use of off-road bikes, and we'll do the rest | West Midlands Police

OTHER INFORMATION

Some of your local neighbourhood team have also assisted our colleagues across the city with the Godiva Festival last weekend - this was a highly enjoyable experience for all. PCSO Pritchard also attended Walsgrave CofE Primary School to talk with the Year 6's about antisocial behaviour and answer any questions that the children had about what the Police do.

We are looking at more dates to conduct Speedwatches and Community Pop-Up events and will let you know in due course when and where they will take place.

If you have information about people committing crime that you want to tell us about, you can contact us on the non-emergency telephone number 101. You can also report to us online using our report forms on: Report | West Midlands Police

Alternatively you can contact the CRIMESTOPPERS charity anonymously by calling 0800 555 111. This is a free phone number. CRIMESTOPPERS can also be contacted online here: Independent UK charity taking crime information anonymously | Crimestoppers (crimestoppers-uk.org)

Please do not report crime via WMnow because it is not always monitored.

Kind Regards,

The Henley & Longford Neighbourhood Policing Team
