Bablake Weekly Update

Dear Members,

Here’s a quick round up from me and the rest of the Bablake Neighbourhood Policing Team.

What’s been happening:

Vehicle crime

On Friday 4th July just gone midnight, two suspects have tried stealing a Honda Motorcycle from a driveway on HERDERS WAY but thankfully were disturbed.

A vehicle was entered on BROWNSHILL GREEN ROAD between the afternoon of Sunday 6th July to the early morning of the Monday 7th July, a bag was stolen from within containing keys to a Grey Nissan Juke which suspect(s) returned for and stole. Officers are carrying out enquiries but if residents have any information relating to any of these incidents or noted suspicious behaviour, please let us know.

If you see vehicle crime taking place (including people trying car door handles) please dial 999 immediately.

Other crime

An attempt to prize a garage door has been reported on HALIFAX CLOSE. Be mindful of garage and other outbuilding security. Often such buildings are overlooked compared to a dwelling but there are still expensive items stored in them. The top five most common stolen items are bikes, mowers, sports equipment, power tools and garden tools. Please don’t forget to mark and list your valuables wherever they may be kept. Property can be registered for free on the Secure Asset Register. For further advice - Keeping your shed or garage safe and secure | Crime prevention | West Midlands Police

Thank you

A concerned resident reported suspicious behaviour, having found several discarded vehicle registration plates on BIRMINGHAM ROAD.  We have been making enquires to check if connected to any reports.  Number plates are often stolen or copied 'cloned' to be used in crime, so we appreciate the time taken in letting us know and enabled us to get to them before potentially falling into the wrong hands.

Festivals

As we are in the season of festivals, fetes, and summer activities we would like to take this opportunity to advise to think of safety and security particularly at crowded events!

Don't leave bags and backpacks lying around alone or out of reach. Keep purses and wallets zipped and close to your body including mobile phones.

For the 18's and over, if the event involves alcoholic refreshments, drink sensibly and never leave your drink unattended.

For everyone, plan your journey home in advance and if drink is involved, choose a designated driver who is not drinking.

Our final words of advice, NEVER ACCEPT A LIFT FROM STRANGERS.

Dates for the diary

We will be attending ALLESLEY VILLAGE’S CARNIVAL PROCESSION on SATURDAY 12TH JULY 2025 helping celebrate the festivals golden 50th Anniversary. It’s a day we very much look forward to each year and we hope to see many of you there.

We will also be at ST THOMAS CHURCH KERESLEY from 6:00 PM ON WEDNESDAY 16TH JULY 2025 following concerns of anti-social behaviour happening in the car park. All residents are welcome, please feel free to come along and talk to us if you are being affected or anything else in the vicinity you wish to make us aware of.

If you have any information about crime in your area you can let us know 100% anonymously by contacting CRIMESTOPPERS 0800 555 111
