Theft from a vehicle

Over the last two days Wellingborough has had six vehicle crimes whereby persons have gained access to motor vehicles and have stolen property from within.

The majority of these thefts occurred due to insecurities.

Please can I remind people to lock their car doors and windows, plus take a few moments to remove any items from show.

The recent thefts took place on Western Way, Ruskin Avenue Great Park Street and North Street.

The offences took place between 20:00 and 06:30.

We are keen to hear from anyone who may have any information relating to the theft of these items or that may have been in the area around the time of the incident and heard or seen anything suspicious.

You can also pass on information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

There are some simple but effective things you can do to help protect your vehicle:

  • Park your car in a garage or driveway if possible, or on a busy, well-lit road.  Choose a ParkMark® accredited public car park wherever possible
  • Never leave anything on display in your car. The cost to repair damage to the vehicle will usually exceed the value of the theft
  • Drivers of some Toyota and Honda vehicles and some 4 x 4’s should install measures to deter theft of catalytic converts e.g  Catloc | Catalytic Convertor Theft Protection
  • Further security tips and crime prevention advice can be found on the Northamptonshire Police website and on the Neighbourhood Watch website.
