Local Priorities Mobile phone theft Message

I wanted to provide an update regarding Mobile phone theft, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

We’ve seen a rise in phone thefts locally, with thieves often targeting people using their phones in public.

📱 Protect yourself:
✅ Keep your phone out of sight when not in use
✅ Step aside to use your phone safely, away from the roadside
✅ Use a PIN or biometric lock
✅ Record your IMEI (*#06#) and enable tracking apps
✅ Report suspicious activity to us

The Met is increasing patrols and using plain-clothes operations to tackle this. We’re here, working hard to keep you safe – but together we can reduce these crimes.

If you see something suspicious, report it via 101 or 999 if urgent.
