Burglary - Residential- Arrest |
||
Dear Resident
A man has appeared in court today (Tuesday 1 July) in connection with a dwelling burglary in #HemelHempstead. Following an investigation by the #Dacorum Local Crime Unit, Mark Butler, aged 31, of Roman Way in #Markyate, was arrested by officers from the Special Constabulary on Sunday. He was subsequently charged in connection with a burglary which occurred at an address in the town on Tuesday 3 June. During his appearance at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court this morning, he was remanded into custody and is due to appear for trial at Luton Crown Court on Monday 4 August.
Tips to prevent burglary:
Check downstairs windows and doors are securely locked before you leave or go to bed. Secure UPVC doors by lifting the handle and locking it to engage the security features. Don’t leave keys, phones or other valuables on windowsills or in any other visible place. Securely lock rear gates, sheds and garages. Keep tools and ladders locked away, as they could be used to break into your home. Use laminate glass where possible for any rear doors or windows. If this is not practicable, consider the use of security film over existing windows. Use a “Fake TV” or timer switches on lamps to give the impression someone is at home. Consider using a doorbell camera, interior camera, or a monitored burglar alarm. Consider adding trellis to any side or rear boundaries to add extra height up to a maximum of 2 metres.
Please be vigilant and do report any suspicious activity or behaviour in the area. If you need to report a crime please call 101 or go online here.
