Crime Alert - Scam or Fraud

Dear Resident,

🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

We want to make our community aware of a recent telephone scam targeting elderly and vulnerable residents.

An elderly lady in our area received a call from someone pretending to be from Lloyds Bank’s Fraud Investigation Team. The caller convinced her to share her banking details, and then attempted to:

  • Take out a ÂŁ10,000 loan in her name

  • Set up a joint account she had not requested

  • Thankfully, the fraud was detected in time, but this is a stark reminder to stay vigilant.

    đź”’ Remember:

  • Your bank will never ask for your full PIN or password over the phone.

  • They will never ask you to move money to a “safe account”.

  • If in doubt, hang up and call your bank directly using the number on the back of your card.

  • âś… Please check in with elderly friends, family, and neighbours to make sure they’re aware of this scam.

📞 If you or someone you know has been targeted, report it to Action Fraud at www.actionfraud.police.uk or call 0300 123 2040.

Let’s keep our community safe. 💙
