Local Priorities Street Drinking Update

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Street Drinking, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

We appreciate that the weather is getting warmer through the summer months, but are you aware that alcohol can not be consumed in the Swansea City Area unless you are in a local pub/restaurant property. This Order is in place due to previous high levels of street drinking and for the safety of members of the public.

If you are a victim of, or concerned about alcohol abuse in your community, the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 outlines roles and responsibilities of the police and partners in tackling such issues. It aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area.

The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour. 

These include: 

• civil injunctions. 

• criminal behaviour orders. 

• public spaces protection orders. 

• community protection notices. 

• dispersal powers. 

• closure powers. 

• ASB Case review
