Hello all.
Its been a while since my last MCV post but that's because I've had several days of leave and then on my return last week I hit the ground running!
Last week we had the Kent Police mini-cadets come to Lydd Police Station which was part of their course that our Child Centred Policing Team (CCPT) organise. They walked from Lydd primary school escorted by teaching staff and PC Kerry Duncan from the CCPT and there were more hi-vis vests snaking their way from the school to the police station than you could shake a stick at! We had a few police vehicles here for them to clamber all over and a couple of police dog handlers, these young girls and boys could be our next generation of police officers so watch out!
I then attended the Romney Marsh Forum at Lydd Town Hall as guest speaker, this is just a meeting for councillors to ask me questions and discuss policing on the Marsh and I don't think any of them fell asleep so that was a positive!
We've had some positive results with regards to drug dealing on the Marsh whereby a dealer has been taken off the streets and on that note please let my colleague PC James Hockless and/or I know of any information you may have about drug dealing as we will look into it and deal with the information accordingly.
We are aware that e-scooters and other electric conveyances that are illegal to use in public are still being used by people who more often than not choose to ignore the legality of them and we will continue to take positive action against them and seize the vehicles where we are able to. I know that you have probably seen police cars that seemingly drive past/ignore e-scooters being ridden however, there are a few reasons as to why this is the case, one of which is for safety of everyone including the rider if the officer deems it to be too much of a risk to try and stop it, this is because many riders of these know that we can seize them and they won't be seeing them again and will make off at speed which endangers pedestrians and other road users including themselves and so the dynamic risk assessment falls with the officer at the time of seeing the scooter but as I said, this is just one reason and it's not because we can't be bothered.
Unfortunately we have had a couple of late night burglaries to outbuildings, one in Burmarsh and three in the Ivychurch/Brenzett area, these have all taken place within the last week and one property has been targeted twice. We are doing everything we can to identify the offenders. The burglary in Church Road Burmarsh was on 26/06/2025 around 02:20. The first two burglaries in Ivychurch/Brenzett were on 24/06/2025 both were very close together time wise at around 22:50, one being the A2070 end of Ashford Road Ivychurch and the other was the Aeronautical Museum at Brenzett and then unfortunately the property on Ashford Road was targeted again at around 22:40 on 30/06/2025. If anyone has information about any of these or has CCTV please email me.
