Burbage Police July Newsletter, Burglary And Drugs.
Hello Resident,
Report of an attempt residential burglary on Belfry Close which may have occurred on either Thursday 26th or Friday 27th. Damage done to the rear patio door handle and back door. No entry gained. 25000376388. Please see attached our crime prevention catalogue where we have items such as window alarms, fence spikes and PIR alarms which can all support in reducing these types of crime, especially as we head towards the holidays. Be mindful of leaving windows open or unlocked doors during the good weather as you never know who is about when you aren’t.
Another drugs related arrest made on Brookside this week following officers identifying a vehicle of concern. The suspect was arrested following the discovery of a large amount of Class A drugs.
Report from Indigo Drive that at around 01:15 on the morning of the 28th, 2 females were spotted taking photos of vehicles in the area and making comments that have raised concerns around potential theft of motor vehicle. If you have any good images of those involved, please pop me an email. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
Since our last update, we have supported with an event at Battling Brook school where we spoke to lots of Burbage residents and completed a crime prevention talk for the Burbage Phoenix group at the Millennium Hall. As always, great to speak to so many people and hopefully support in reducing crime.
Burbage Police Newsletter July 2025
Issue: Summer Update July 2025
Your dedicated Neighbourhood Team for Burbage. Sgt James Cross, PCSO Darren Stretton and PC Josh Symonds. Leicestershire Police website
Welcome to our monthly update for the residents and communities of the Burbage Neighbourhood Policing Area. This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.
#YouSaid - What matters to you
We have listened to you and the concerns you raised and prioritised the following: Below are our new priorities which we will be actioning this month.
Priority 1: Burglary
You Said – Burglaries of sheds and other outbuildings continue to be a problem on the area and as we grow nearer to the holiday season house break ins have notoriously increased due to people being away from their homes on holiday for protracted periods giving offenders time to commit the offences without being disturbed.
Priority 2: Anti-social Behaviour
You Said – Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) around local parks and streets in Burbage is a cause for concern, residents have noted what is suspected to be drug use and drug dealing taking place blatantly on streets and in open spaces across the village and the upcoming school holidays always increased the likelihood of further ASB as young people find themselves with spare time on their hands and warmer weather to enable them to be outside.
Priority 3: Vehicle Crime
You Said – Being the victim of a vehicle crime is a concern for local residents, concerns raised include both vehicles being broken into and property stolen and vehicles themselves being taken.
#WeDid - What we are doing
Burglary - We will be making this type of crime a priority over the next 3 months looking to raise awareness within the community in order that neighbours can look out for each other when away on holiday. The use of light timers and other crime prevention goods will be highlighted as a deterrent and increased patrols in hotspots will be taking place. Where offences are reported local officers will work closely with the detectives to ensure that community intelligence and CCTV opportunities are maximised to provide the greatest opportunities of identifying the offenders.
Anti-social Behaviour – We have recognised the concerns of the community and have made it our priority to tackle this issue. We are already actively targeting those involved in the supply and use of drugs and urge anyone with information about this offending or that believes suspicious behaviour is taking place nearby that they should report this to us via 101 or crime stoppers. Over the summer months high visibility patrols will be increased in hotspot locations to act as a deterrent to possible ASB and where reports of ASB are received the beat team will work in partnership with Hinckley Borough Council to identify and deal with perpetrators promptly.
Vehicle Crime - Over the coming months we seek to increase awareness across the community of this issue and to provide greater crime prevention advice through the use of social media, messages on the Neighbourhood Link platform, posters and crime prevention events across the beat. Whilst current crime trends show that this type of offending is reducing, seasonal crime trends would suggest that warmer weather and school holidays do see an increase due to windows being left open and owners being away on holiday therefore their cars being unattended for longer periods. Our patrols targeting this type of offending will continue and where offences occur, local officers will seek to support the investigators by visiting the areas and looking at CCTV and other evidential opportunities to maximise the likelihood of identifying an offender
