Ninja sword surrender campaign launches on 1 July 2025

HANDING IN A WEAPON COULD SAVE A LIFE - INCLUDING YOUR OWN

In July , the Home Office are running a surrender scheme across England & Wales to offer safe disposal of ninja swords at designated police stations. If you own a ninja sword purchased before March 27, 2025, you may be eligible for compensation. Ninja swords purchased after that date can be surrendered but are not eligible for compensation.

Parents & Carers

Talk to your children about the dangers of knife carrying - open conversations save lives.

Find information on how to spot warning signs of weapon carrying from your local police force or charities – e.g. changes in behavior, new friends, unexplained items, staying out late, increased secrecy, or sudden interest in weapons.

Support your child in safely surrendering weapons

For Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge and Havering - Dagenham Police Station has been selected as the designated site to surrender ninja swords. However, it is possible to still safely surrender these weapons at any 24hr police station front counter.

Police stations are ONLY accepting ninja swords, not other weapons.

FOR OTHER TYPES OF KNIVES

Word 4 Weapons currently has 47 knife amnesty bins placed across London with 3 placed in the following locations locally.

• BARKING & DAGENHAM: Barking Rugby Club, Gale St., Goresbrook, Dagenham, RM9 4TX.

• REDBRIDGE: Redbridge Homes, The Orchard Community Centre, 150 Broadmead Road, Woodford, IG8 0AG.

• HAVERING: Central Park Sports Centre Car Park, Gooshays Drive, Harold Hill, Romford RM3 9LB.

REMEMBER to package your weapon securely in a sealed bag or box before transport.

SAVE A LIFE, SURRENDER YOUR KNIFE
