Week of Action – Community Safety and Engagement Update

** Community Message from Plymouth North and Plympton Neighbourhood Police Teams **

Dear Residents,

Over the past week, officers from the Plymouth Central Neighbourhood Policing Team have been actively involved in a coordinated Week of Action across our community. This initiative was part of our ongoing commitment to making Plymouth a safer, stronger, and more connected place for everyone.

Here’s a summary of what we’ve achieved together over the past week:

  • Visits to primary schools to teach pupils about staying safe online, the use of smartphones and road safety

  • Joint partnership working with immigration enforcement agents to safeguard victims of modern slavery

  • Engagement with residents at risk of cuckooing

  • Engagement with shop keepers who sell vapes, following the recent legislation changes on 1st June

  • Engagement with shop keepers who have been victims of shoplifting

  • Coffee-with-cops community events, giving residents an opportunity to meet their local policing teams.

  • Attendance at School Fairs to engage with students and parents

🔹 Increased Patrols & Visibility

We deployed officers on foot and mobile patrols in key areas, helping deter crime and provide reassurance to residents and businesses.

🔹 Community Engagement Events

Our team met with residents at several pop-up stands, local schools, the university and community centres. These events allowed for open conversations about safety concerns and how we can work together to address them.

🔹 Crime Prevention Activities

We conducted targeted operations to tackle antisocial behaviour, drug activity, modern day slavery vehicle-related crime.

🔹 Partnership Work

Officers worked alongside housing associations, local councils, councillors and charities to carry out welfare checks, offer support services, and address neighbourhood concerns directly.

This Week of Action was not just about enforcement — it was about listening, connecting, and taking meaningful steps toward long-term improvements in public safety and trust.

We’d like to thank all residents, community groups, and partners who supported and participated in these efforts. Your involvement is vital to our shared success.

If you have concerns or ideas to help improve safety and wellbeing in our community, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Stay connected. Stay safe.
