Seizure of nuisance off road bike - Bartons Point |
||
Hello Resident
As part of our drive to tackle the issues that are most important to you, we regularly conduct drop in surgeries or conduct surveys to hear your thoughts. You have recently highlighted that nuisance bikes and e-scooters are having a negative effect on the quality of life for local residents, with the noise of the bikes and reckless driving of both being both anti-social and dangerous.
We have tried to target the areas most discussed to provide a high visibility presence when we can, to deter potential riders from even starting to cause a nuisance, however some people still try their luck. Whilst many people were flocking to the seafront and Bartons Point today to soak up the sun, the peace was disrupted by a loud off road bike going round and round. We had not long come away from the area, but were notified by local residents that it had started so we swiftly returned.
One bike seized for no licence and no Insurance - team work from your Island Officers: PC KINRADE, PC HONESS, PC SADDINGTON, PC STEER.
Oh - and on route back to the Police station 3 youths on an e-scooter decided to wave at Officers and try to ride off. Sadly an e-scooter isn't designed to carry so many so their getaway was inevitably slower than they'd hoped. One e-scooter seized by PC HONESS and PC STEER, 3 youths reminded that e-scooters are illegal to ride anywhere other than private land with the landowners permission.
Enjoy the sunshine safely and hopefully peacefully :-)
Ali
