This is an alert message to be careful of your property if you are having building works carried out.

We have had at least two attempts of break-ins this week in the Hoe St and Chapel End wards during the early hours by a gang of up to four men speaking in Romanian.

They appear to be targeting houses which are having building works carried out and then checking the properties first to see if they are occupied before using a crowbar to force entry at front windows.

Please warn your builders not to leave expensive tools overnight , do leave on lights in the house at night whether you are in or out and ask neighbours to keep an eye out for any suspicious activities if you’re away during the works.
