Longsight Neighbourhood Roads Policing Operation

Dear Residents,

On Friday 27th of June 2025 Longsight Neighbourhood Policing Team have been out conducting traffic stops. The focus was around areas previously reported by Residents and Councillors as being problem areas.

The morning started by attending a road traffic collision on Old Hall Lane where a driver has lost control and flipped the vehicle. Luckily the driver was fine, and nobody was injured. This was a joint emergency services effort with the Ambulance Service and Fire Service in attendance.

One of the problem areas reported by the community was on Slade Lane and Stockport Road, a number of drivers were given verbal warnings for parking on Zig-Zag lines around crossings. Parking on Zig-zag lines can lead to 3 points on your license and a £100 fine.

An individual was seen using her phone whilst driving on Upper Brook Street, upon further checks the driver had no Insurance and No driving license!

Inspector Cheston also took part in the Neighbourhood Roads Policing Operation, throughout the day he stopped over 7 vehicles leading to two stop searches on individuals, words of advice to multiple drivers, and a search of a vehicle.

If you witness a collision or driving offences please use the below link to report them to GMP.
