Good News - Shoplifters plead Guilty at Court

Good evening Resident

I am writing to you as the local officer to share a good news story directly from St Albans Magistrates' Court. For disclosure, some of the text below has been lifted from The Herts Advertiser - https://www.hertsad.co.uk/news/25267404.thieves-stole-goods-worth-5k-watford-boots/ .

On Monday 23rd June, three shoplifters were in the dock at St Albans Magistrates' Court to answer to shoplifting charges, some of which affected Boots Colney Fields. Ionel Lacatus, Madalin Sburatoru and Fatima Axinie each admitted to thefts.

Sburatoru, of Polzeath Close, Luton, pleaded guilty to stealing £500 worth of Boots products from one of the chain's Watford stores on February 8, as well as stealing an additional £1,512 of goods from a Boots store in London Colney on April 21. He has been remanded in custody ahead of a sentencing hearing at St Albans Crown Court on August 14.

Axinie, of Milton Road, Luton, stole products worth a total of £2,046 from a Watford Boots store on separate days in February. On March 1, she stole £323 worth of goods from a Boots shop in London Colney. She will be sentenced at St Albans Magistrates' Court on July 24 and has been bailed until then and has also been barred from entering any Boots, TK Maxx or Perfume Shop in the UK as a condition.

Lacatus, of Dallow Road, Luton, pleaded guilty to stealing £500 worth of Boots products from one of the chain's Watford stores on February 8, as well as another £1,458 of goods from the same shop three days later. The 19-year-old has been bailed until his sentencing hearing at the same court on July 24. As a condition of his bail, he has been barred from entering any Boots, TK Maxx or Perfume Shop in the UK.

As one of the Neighbourhood Police Officers for London Colney, I welcome this result from the Court and hope this provides reassurance to the community that we will not tolerate shoplifters and will employ an array of tactics to target, identify, and prosecute offenders.

Kind regards,

Fiona
