This week Stoke & Wyken

Dear Residents and Local Businesses, here is your weekly update from your local neighborhood Policing Team, Stoke and Wyken.

This Week

The Stoke and Wyken team is seeing continued efforts to address community concerns, particularly regarding parking and safety around schools. The neighborhood team is working with the council to tackle dangerous parking outside schools and will be maintaining patrols during school hours. Specifically, bollards are being proposed for Wyken Croft School to prevent pavement parking. Additionally, Speedwatch activities have been conducted on suggested roads, and undercover operations have continued in retail spaces.

We have visited several care homes in Coventry, engaging in various activities and providing comfort to our elderly residents. If you would like to arrange a visit from our Officers for presentations on general safety, along with the possibility of distributing related materials, please reach out to us. We would be pleased to accommodate your request.

Officers also attended Radio Panj at the start of this week to discuss all things police, you can catch us live on the radio again in the future.

June 23rd marks the start of ‘’week of action’’ for Stoke and Wyken, Starting on Monday 23 June, we will highlight the vital work that neighborhood officers, police community support officers (PCSOs) and volunteers do to protect the public and keep people safe.

During the week we will also be launching our new neighborhood policing training programmed, designed to support and strengthen neighborhood policing teams in every force. We have been trialing this programmed with over 1,000 officers in 11 different forces.

Follow along for updates on the latest problem-solving strategies, success stories and innovative practices using the hashtag #NeighbourhoodPolicingWeek.

In regards to off-road bikes, West Midlands Police maintains a stringent policy against the illegal and antisocial use of off-road bikes, prioritizing community safety and addressing public concerns.

We are regularly organising Targeted Operations and Initiatives, focusing on areas with high reports of illegal off-road bike activity, employing tactics such as surveillance, warrants, and community collaboration.

Please continue to report this in as much detail as possible; Location, time, description of the bike(s), description of the rider(s), routes they use to and from the location, any names and addresses if known etc. Photos and videos are ideal (if possible to obtain without putting yourself in danger).

This information is key to us as a Neighborhood Team in building a bigger picture of the problem and tackling these issues through robust enforcement, community engagement, and strategic operations.

Please be aware that this inbox is NOT monitored 24 hours a day and is purely for non-emergencies. In an emergency please call 999. To report a crime in a non-emergency situation please call 101 or visit Report a crime | West Midlands Police to do this online.

Kind Regards,

The Stoke & Wyken Neighbourhood Policing Team
