Community Event - Blue Plaque Unveiling by Glossop Heritage Trust


Glossop SNT - Community Event/Blue Plaque Unveiling

 

⚽Glossop North End FC⚽ were provided with the financial support of a local mill owner, Sir Samuel Hill-Wood, the club played alongside teams like Manchester City for one season in the First Division before playing Second Division football until the First World War. 

 

Glossop remains to this day the smallest town to have played at the top level of English football. The plaque records the achievement of the club and their benefactor.

 

The blue plaque will be unveiled at Glossop North End’s Asgard Stadium, Surrey Street, Glossop, SK13 8GG (vehicular access from Glossop Brook Road) on Saturday 12th July 2025

 

Gates will open at 10am and the unveiling ceremony will start at 10.30am. 

 

The event closes at 11.30am.

 

The event is free and all are welcome.
