Deliberate Grass Fire

🚨 Deliberate Grass Fire

This week, PCSO Liz Dale and PCSO Sean Nicholls attended a deliberately started grass fire in the Rugeley area, after fire crews had already brought the blaze under control. These reckless acts are not only illegal β€” they endanger lives, destroy property, and devastate local wildlife.

πŸ”₯ Fire destroys our beautiful countryside.
With dry, sunny weather, the ground becomes even more vulnerable to grass fires β€” making it easier for flames to spread rapidly and cause lasting damage.

πŸ”₯ Fire crews are currently responding to DOUBLE their usual demand.
Every deliberate fire puts extra strain on emergency services, potentially delaying their response to life-threatening incidents elsewhere.

🌿 Wildlife at Risk: Grass fires wipe out habitats in seconds. Birds, hedgehogs, and other animals are left injured, displaced, or killed. These fires have long-term impacts on our local ecosystem.

πŸ›‘ Fire Prevention Tips:

  • Do not use disposable BBQs in open countryside or dry grassy areas.
  • Never discard cigarettes or matches on the ground.
  • Take all litter home β€” glass bottles can start fires.
  • Avoid burning garden waste during dry or windy conditions.
  • 🀝 Targeting Hotspots: We are targeting areas that have been affected, working closely with the Fire Prevention Team and Forestry England to increase patrols, raise awareness, and prevent further incidents.

πŸ‘€ Help Us to Protect Cannock Chase and surrounding areas: If you see smoke or suspicious activity, call 999 immediately.
If you have any information about who may be responsible, call 101 or report anonymously via Crimestoppers.

Let’s protect our countryside β€” and the wildlife that depends on it. πŸ¦”πŸ¦…πŸŒΎ
