The Oldham Mini Police is an initiative run by Oldham Police throughout the 2024/2025 academic year. With pupils selected from Holy Family RC Primary School and Beever Primary School to represent their schools in a variety of inputs throughout the year. These inputs included knife crime, anti-social behaviour, road safety, hate crime, bulling, and crime scene investigation. This month, the Mini Police have been awarded for their hard work and dedication with a trip to the Police Museum in Manchester.
Holy Family RC Primary School stated: "We are incredibly proud of our pupils' involvement in the Mini Police project with Greater Manchester Police. The children have absolutely loved being part of this initiative and have truly risen to the challenge. Thanks to the high-quality training delivered by PC Barnes and his dedicated team, our pupils have gained valuable knowledge on important topics such as road safety, knife crime, and anti-social behaviour. The children were taken to Manchester Police Museum, and the children came back telling staff and peers, what a wonderful time they had. They were very enthusiastic and told us all about prisoners and consequences from past crimes. They loved the whole experience and were made to feel very important in their Mini Police uniforms. They’ve also taken a leading role in raising awareness by delivering a powerful assembly on hate crime and even carried out a crime scene investigation—an experience they won’t forget! This has been a fantastic opportunity for our students to grow in confidence, develop a sense of responsibility, and engage with their community in a meaningful way. They wear their Mini Police uniforms with immense pride, and we couldn’t be more impressed with their commitment and enthusiasm."
Moving on to next year, what do you think the Mini Police should get involved with? What do you think children of 9-11 years old should be learning about? We would love to hear from you and this is your opportunity to guide the Mini Police project moving forward. | ||||
