Windrush Celebration 2025 – A Tapestry of Cultures Event

Assistant Chief Constable Sykes, Chief Superintendent Meeney and officers from the Moss Side and Hulme Neighbourhood team today attended an event in Alexandra Park to celebrate with the community the 77th anniversary of the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush at Tilbury dock.

The celebration honoured the legacy and struggles the Windrush generation have faced in this country. It also celebrated the massive contributions made to society as a whole, laying the foundations for a multicultural Britain, enriching everybody's lives with vibrant Caribbean culture, music, food and values. The event also gave mention to the contributions made to great public institutions such as the NHS.

As Police Officers, we take great privilege in being able to attend these events, have positive interactions with, and listen to, our communities.

Thank you to all who attended and made this event possible and thank you for having us!

Thank you

PC Gibb
