With high temperatures on the rise, your safety is our top priority. Heat-related illnesses can happen quickly and can be dangerous. Here are some tips to help you and your community stay safe:
โ Hydrate Often: Drink plenty of waterโeven if youโre not thirsty. Avoid alcohol and caffeine in extreme heat. โ Stay Cool: Use air conditioning if possible, or visit a cooling centre. If outdoors, take frequent breaks in the shade. โ Look Out for Others: Check on elderly neighbours, children, and anyone without access to air conditioning. A quick call or visit could save a life. โ Never Leave Children or Pets in Vehicles: Even a few minutes in a hot car can be fatal. Always check the back seat before locking your vehicle. โ Know the Signs of Heatstroke: Confusion, dizziness, nausea, and rapid pulse are serious warning signs. Call 999 immediately if you or someone else shows symptoms. โ Be Responsible: Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat hours (usually 11 AM โ 4 PM). Stay informed with weather alerts.
