Public Spaces Protection Order


👮REMINDER - PUBLIC SPACES PROTECTION ORDER👮

With temperatures rising and Summer well underway, we at Shirebrook Safer Neighbourhood Team want to remind the public that there is a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in place.

The Shirebrook and Langwith Junction PSPO has been renewed and will be in place until December 2025. The areas covered by the PSPO which imposes restrictions on people using public spaces including this area, namely:

1. No person shall have unsealed vessels containing alcohol in their possession
2. No person shall urinate, defecate or spit in any public place
3. No person shall dispose of any litter other than in the bins provided
4. No persons shall make excessive noise which is likely to cause nuisance or Anti-social behaviour
5. It shall be an offence if a person fails to comply immediately with a direction from a constable or Authorised Person to move on from land within the Restricted Area
6. No person shall drive any motorised vehicles at excessive speed or accelerated aggressively, in the Market Place
7. No person shall allow music to be played on equipment installed in a motorised vehicle which is audible outside the vehicle
8. No person shall congregate to spectate in the activities at part (6) and (7) above

Failure to comply with the PSPO will result in a Fixed Penalty Notice with a £100 fine or a conviction and fine of up to £1,000.

Pubs, restaurants or off-licences do not form part of the Public Spaces Protection Order.
