Burglary - Summer Prevention Campaign

Dear Resident

Over the past few days all five Districts have been hit by opportunist burglars taking advantage of the warm weather.

Many have been sneak in burglaries, where people have left doors or windows ajar. This message is a reminder that whilst our staff are being deployed in high burglary areas we want to also reiterate key messages to you all about security.

I appreciate you may get these messages and think i am preaching to the choir but these offences are happening daily causing undue heartache and anxiety.

The messages are very broad and should be adapted to your own surroundings, so whilst the advice of locking doors and windows is always sound advice it will be different across the District to each property and individual.

* What we can advise is to use a doorbell camera or other CCTV and use any signage that come with it.

* Mark your property and register it with Immobilise The National Property Register, for Phones, Gadgets, Bicycles & More...

* Look after your neighbours, if you see anything suspicious, someone skulking around giving some excuse for being in a garden, report it.

* Think about a chime to your door if someone opens it.

Please visit our West Yorkshire Police site for further information.

Above all stay safe please. #SummerSafety and Don't live on Easy Street.
