Newsletter

Good Evening Resident

Update on the Neighbourhood changes.

Due to how WMNow is set up you may receive newsletters from more than 1 team. Boundary areas change over time, especially as new houses are built between established villages. The Parish areas don’t always correspond to the Policing areas so to make sure we reach all of our Chelmsley Wood residents I will continue to send these Newsletters to the wider community.

Please know that you are welcome to any of the teams beat surgeries, cuppa with a coppa and resident meetings and the officers in attendance will forward your concerns on to the relevant team Sgt’s and Designated Neighbourhood Officers.

We are one Force all working together to keep your areas safe.

However, myself and PC Stiles will only report crimes on the roads we cover as the Chelmsley Wood DNO’s and some of our previous CW areas are now patrolled by Fordbridge Officers and will be on their Newsletters, areas such as Forth Dr, Waterloo Ave & Clopton Crescent also Winchester Drive, Chichester Grove & Cambridge Dr areas. The dividing road is now Moorend Ave.

Chelmsley Wood Newsletter 14th June 2025

I said there would be awards, and yes our Chelmsley Wood Streetwatch were TRIUMPHANT and the Team were presented with a Streetwatch STAR Award. They truly are an amazing bunch, so committed to our area and the residents.

ACC Ian Parnell and Chief Superintendent Richard Harris gave out the awards at last weeks ceremony during Volunteers Week. Every Volunteer is a superstar, but it was so great that our team were acknowledged for their commitment and dedication. Big shout out to Hema who also received her 8yrs service badge, silver this time, going for Gold next when you hit 10yrs of being a Streetwatch member.

Ruth couldn’t be there so we did a little presentation of our own.

I am really pleased that the Streetwatch family has recently had new members and the volunteer family is growing, if you would like to join us drop us an email chelmsleywood@westmidlands.police.uk

On Thursday 12th Solihull Police had a day of action, Op Advance, and we were all out making our patrols on your areas count. 5 arrests were made, 1 vehicle was seized and our evening activities centred around the Anti-Social Behaviour that you have been reporting to us. Being a Thursday the Chelmsley Cadets were very eager to join in. They litter picked and knife swept around Meriden Park, thank you to the Cadets, Leaders and of course Liz Curran for organising consent forms and bring such enthusiasm to the Operation.

A few words from our Town Centre DNO’s

This week you will have seen PC SPOOR and PCSO AHMED around CHELMSLEY WOOD TOWN CENTRE. We have been enjoying talking to you all whilst you’re out and about and getting to know your concerns and thoughts.

As many of you may have heard, this week we had Op Advance throughout the Solihull area. Op Advance is the force-wide initiative which runs year-round and aims to address issues such as anti-social behaviour, vehicle crime, shop theft, etc. During this operation, you may have noticed an increased police presence around Chelmsley Wood, especially in the town centre – this is to keep you all safe.

As a part of Op Advance, we had partnered up with FITCAP youth workers to address anti-social behaviour on the bus interchange by having Solihull Youth Bus there, this allows kids who would normally cause issues on the interchange to instead interact with our youth workers who provide them with entertainment services in the bus, keeping them out of trouble.

On Thursday one of our Prolific nominals for Shop Theft has been arrested following a breach of a Community Protection Order and has been recalled to prison.

On Friday 13th June officers have dealt with youths that were causing Anti-Social Behaviour within ASDA. All were subject to stop searches and were told to leave the area. Parents were informed of the incident.

On 17th July between 12:00 – 14:00hrs there will be a beat surgery in Lily’s Tea Parlour where you can meet the Town Centre Designated Neighbourhood Officers.

The weather is set to stay nice so remember to close windows when exiting your vehicle.

It is a good idea to take a close look at your property and assess if you have any easy entry points.

For example, is it feasible to climb onto a flat roof and gain entry through a first-floor window.

By leaving wheelie bins near your home could they be used to climb onto a porch or garage roof, the same for garden furniture.

If leaving windows ajar can you lock them into position.

When leaving your home please make sure it is secure.

Have a great rest of the weekend

    Stay safe & well

    PC Stiles & PCSO Vicki
