Burglary on Hailey Crescent

Police are appealing for information following a burglary on Hailey Crescent, which took place between the evening of Friday 13th June and the early hours of Saturday 14th June 2025.

A customised Lambretta motorbike was stolen from a secure lock-up during the incident. Despite being stored in a locked facility, the thieves were able to force entry and remove the vehicle.

This incident highlights that even secure storage can be vulnerable to targeted thefts, particularly when high-value or distinctive vehicles are involved.

To better protect your motorbike, even when stored in a garage or lock-up, consider the following:

  • Use multiple layers of security: Combine a heavy-duty disc lock with a ground anchor and high-grade chain.
  • Install a motorcycle alarm and tracking system: This can help deter thieves and assist with recovery if stolen.
  • Improve garage or lock-up security:
  • Reinforce doors and hinges with security-rated locks or bars.
  • Fit a motion-activated alarm and CCTV camera inside the lock-up.
  • Consider adding dusk-to-dawn exterior lighting.
  • Keep it out of sight: Use a bike cover even inside a garage to reduce visibility.
  • Record details: Keep photos and records of any custom features and serial numbers to aid in identification.
  •

We are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Hailey Crescent area during the timeframe, or who has CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage, to get in touch.

Please contact the police on 101, quoting reference number 43250293979, or report online via the police website.
