Hello, and welcome to your round up from the St Matthew’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, part of Walsall’s Local Policing Area (LPA). Keeping the different communities in St Matthew’s informed of some of the activities that we have done recently.

Some things that we have been doing on our patch recently:

Recently some of the team have been out and about with Greensquare Accord Housing Officers. Working in partnership with the support staff we visited properties and locations across Caldmore where issues such as Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), and neighbourhood issues have been problematic within the different Greensquare Accord projects and the wider community around them.  During this particular patrol there were no issues that arose, but residents who we spoke with were pleased to see the team out and about in their community.  We also received some good intelligence for us to follow up.

On Tuesday he PC’s on the team conducted some partnership working along with Walsall Trading Standards. Visiting local businesses were information had been received about illegal activity.  A large amount of illegal disposable vapes and tobacco were seized.  Also, unsafe children’s toys taken away.  During the operation an imitation fire arm was also recovered.

Recently PCSO’s from the team have been able to conduct, along with Community volunteers, a Community Speedwatch operation on the Mellish Road. Vehicles caught speeding were issued with warning notifications.

Earlier on this week PCSO’s conducted a hi viz patrol around Chuckery and visited a warden managed apartment building. The residents had invited the PCSO’s to their residents meeting.  The group of residents shared issues of concern such as ASB about their neighbourhood/community, and received advice and support from the team to help with the issues that were raised, which was well received.

Seasonal advice from the Team:

Don’t forget to make sure shed, garden gates and garages are locked and secure.  Tidy away any garden tools and ladders to stop potential burglars from using them in crime of your own property.

Going forward:

We are committed to continue meeting with the various communities in St Matthew’s as part of proactive working.
