BOGUS TRADESMEN - FRAUD

Good morning

We have had a recent report in the area of fraud whereby bogus tradesmen have asked to be paid upfront and have left with the money without completing the full job. One of the males was white, short ginger hair, average build, approx 5'9, wearing a white tank top and grey shorts. It is believed that he may be targeting residents who are 60+ years old. The male was in a pick up vehicle which had a 16 plate reg.

Please be aware of anyone who is offering to do work on your house (e.g roof, driveway, garden) as they may not be legitimate or genuine. They may be pushy or try to make you feel pressured to accept their services. If this is the case, please call 101 or if you feel in immediate danger, please call 999.

Be sure to ask for identification and the name of the individual, as well as the name of the company/ business they work for. If in doubt, you can call the phone number for that company to confirm if it is definitely one of their workers.

Remember, if you are in doubt it is always best to say NO and to decline their services. If they start to get aggressive or violent, please call 999 straight away.

Please share this message with other residents and neighbours - especially those who are elderly or vulnerable. You can also share to local Whataspp or Facebook groups.

Stay safe,
