Good afternoon Resident,
Operation Classify is a proactive roads policing operation aiming to reduce death and serious injury on the roads across Bolton. You may have noticed an increased presence of officers yesterday at lunch time as the Bolton Town Centre Neighbourhood Team conducted vehicle checks and dealt with traffic offences in the area of Trinity Street.
🚗 Stopped a total of 38 vehicles. ✉️ Issued 27 TORs - mostly for using a mobile phone whilst driving, others for no seatbelt on both adults and children, and going through a red light. 📩 Issued 1 summons to court for multiple offences, including driving with no license and no insurance. 🏍️ 1 e-Bike seized. 🚨 2 vehicle defects submitted for the drivers to return to the police station within 7 days with these issues corrected. 🚛 1 on the spot fixed penalty notice for a foreign national driver who was seen using a mobile phone whilst driving an articulated lorry. 🗣️ 7 words of advice following vehicle checks.
For one driver, he liked us so much he wanted to stop and chat with us a second time!
Your local neighbourhood teams across Bolton are conducting similar operations in all areas as part of #OpClassify. Together, we can make the roads safer for all.
