Dear resident,

Today Catterick Neighbourhood Policing Team were in Colburn using our Dot Peen machine on numerous pieces of garden equipment for a local resident.  

Dot Peen marking is a fast, effective and free way of marking your property and involves using a tungsten carbide-tipped pin to indent an object with dots to create a visible, permanent unique number or word. This unique marking is then stored on a database in which if we were to locate stolen property, we would be able to reunite it with it's original owner. 

Property is also marked with a sticker to show that the item has been marked in order to help deter any criminality. 

Items which can be marked include, but are not limited to bikes, computer equipment, horse tack, tools, or any items you may feel are susceptible to theft. The machine will not mark glass or ceramic.
