Good Afternoon Resident Yesterday (06/06/2025) officers from the Rural Operational Support Team (ROST) attended a training event hosted by TVL Security in Essex that focussed on tackling rural crime, construction site theft and theft from vehicles. The event was attended by officers from forces around the South including the Metropolitan Police, Kent and Sussex.
During this event we were delivered presentations from speakers representing Leica Geosystems, Datatag and the National Rural Crime Unit (NRCU) that allowed us to understand all the modern methods of detecting stolen vehicles, either from businesses/farms to privately owned vehicles and trade vans, including some covert methods of tracking and tracing.
With our updated knowledge on detection we can focus on travelling criminals that target our rural communities and businesses by returning stolen property and identifying offenders.
On a separate note, you may have noticed the Metropolitan Police had strategically placed their recruitment van whilst we took our photo below 🙄 whilst they may also be recruiting, so are we! Please take a look at our recruitment page on the following link - https://www.herts.police.uk/police-forces/hertfordshire-constabulary/areas/careers/careers/
