Crime Alert - Theft of a Vehicle

Dear Resident,

Humberside Police are receiving an increase in reports of theft of delivery vehicles.

If you have any information relating to who is involved please call 101 or alternatively you could call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. You don’t have to leave your name and you may even receive a reward.

To reduce the risk of your vehicle being stolen, please read through the below advice -

  • Keep your vehicle locked at all times
  • Make sure your vehicle alarm is set if it has one.
  • Consider using a steering wheel lock, we recommend Secured by Design accredited products.
  • Don't leave your keys or fobs where they can be easily found.
  • If your vehicle has keyless entry, use a faraday pouch to prevent a reply theft.
  • Park your vehicle in a garage if you can, or in a secure location.
  • If you have CCTV, park your vehicle where it will be covered.
  • For delivery drivers be cautious and ask yourself,

  • Does it look like your being followed?
  • Who is around when you make deliveries?
  • Do you leave the keys in your van?
  • Do you leave your van unlocked?
  • How far do you need to walk when parked?
  • Drivers you are the ones best placed to carry out your own crime prevention.

Please also find attached the Police Crime Prevention Handbook which covers a broad range of crime prevention advice.

    Thank you
