Cannabis Farms Central Ward

Officers have attended an address on Boswell Street where a cannabis farm was located. The electric had been bypassed and even more dangerously the gas meter had been as well creating a potentially dangerous situation which could have led to a fire. Thankfully this was made safe by colleagues from the electricity and gas board. 

Officers have then attended an address on Cromer Street again a cannabis farm was located and again the meter had been bypassed which required the pavement to be dug up to rectify. 

Please look out for the below signs of a possible cannabis farm

Signs that might indicate a premises is being used as a cannabis farm include

  • The property might look empty or unlived in.
  • People and vehicles coming and going during the day and night.
  • Large boxes, pipes, lighting equipment, plastic sheeting, bags of fertilizer or building materials are seen going into the premises at different times.
  • Fans which might be seen or heard by neighbours.
  • A smell of the plants on occasion which comes and goes.
  • Building work going on inside the premises sometimes at unusual times of day/night.
  • Blacked out windows or curtains drawn all day long.
  • Lots of condensation on windows even when its not cold outside.

    Anyone who may have information regarding drugs activity in their local area is asked to contact Cleveland Police by dialling 101.
