Good afternoon Resident I hope you are well and having a good week. This post today is regarding speeding. I have received contact from multiple members of public throughout my wards, specifically the more rural areas, expressing concern about speeding vehicles.
Did you know the following: The minimum penalty for speeding is a £100 fine and 3 penalty points added to your licence. If caught speeding, alongside a fine, you may have to attend court, you could also be required to complete a speed awareness course. You could be disqualified from driving if you build up 12 or more penalty points within a period of 3 years - check your driving licence record to see if you have points on your licence.
Young drivers: If you’re still within 2 years of passing your driving test, your driving licence will be revoked (withdrawn) if you build up 6 or more penalty points. - I am noticing that a lot of new, young drivers are not aware of this and it is coming as a shock to them when this occurs, if you have children driving, please make them aware of this so they remain safe on the roads.
