Dear Resident,

Upcoming Energy Advice Event – RTS Meter Changes

Neighbourhood Watch Scotland (NWS) is partnering with E.ON Next to help reach communities most likely to be affected by the upcoming Radio Teleswitch Service (RTS) switch off on 30 June 2025.

As part of this initiative, the NWS team are hosting a free pop-up event:

🗓 Thursday 5th June, 2025
🕤 10am - 2pm
📍  Overgate Shopping Centre, 14 Reform Street, Dundee, DD1 1UQ

where you can find out more and speak to the NWS team.

If you think you might be affected by the RTS switch off, or simply want to learn more, please join us. Our team will be on hand to:

  • Explain what the RTS switch off means for you
  • Offer advice on what steps to take if you are affected
  • Share information about Neighbourhood Watch Scotland

To assist below is information about the RTS switch off, including web links.

Energy Advice:

Some types of electricity meter (regardless of energy provider) need to be urgently upgraded.  The Radio Teleswitch Service (RTS) switch off is happening on 30 June 2025 and will affect households using an older electricity meter to heat their home and hot water. The implications of not upgrading the meter could mean that the heating and hot water may not work properly. Customers could find that they cannot switch on or switch off their system and could incur an increased bill as a result.

It is crucial that affected customers arrange for a smart meter to be fitted before the switch off on 30 June 2025.
