Humberside Police two-monthly update for the Drypool Ward

Dear Residents,

This is your two-monthly update for the Drypool Ward in relation to news and updates around crime and anti-social behaviour. For the months of April 2025 and May 2025, the ward had the following crimes/incidents reported:

Crime:

Criminal Damage: 20

Burglary: 10

Robbery: 3

Shop Theft: 36

Theft from motor vehicle: 6

Theft of motor vehicle: 1

Violence Against the Person: 31

Anti-Social Behaviour:

ASB Personal: 4

ASB Nuisance: 11

ASB Environmental: 5

Overnight between 10th and 11th May 2025 several properties were subject to burglaries or attempt burglaries in the Barnsley Street and Garden Village areas. Several vehicles were also targeted with the same suspect checking for insecurities. The Drypool community team came on duty on the Sunday morning and saw that a large number of offences was reported overnight in this small area. The team quickly identified the suspect and swiftly arrested him, recovering stolen property and evidence linking him to the offences. He was later charged with 11 offences and is now remanded in custody. He has since been identified for further offences which will be investigated, and the suspect will be interviewed again whilst in prison whilst we look to secure further charges against him.

The Drypool team also look closely at Shop theft and retail-based crime as we are well aware that theft is a concern, especially for the staff that work in these establishments as they quite often result in public order offences and on some occasions, violence offences. The Drypool team and the local businesses use a digital App in which information and images of suspects can be shared instantly. This has resulted in a higher proportion of suspect being identified and subsequently charged which has had a positive effect resulting in a dramatic reduction in reported thefts. Hull City Council have just recently agreed to fund this App for a further 3 years due to the success. This App is also being used to target begging, ASB and street drinking!

We have had issues of public order offences and harassment offences in the Ferndale and Redcar Street area of the ward. The team have been working closely with residents and the housing providers and have made several arrests and charges against an individual responsible. This individual is currently remanded in custody, and we continue to work with partners to solve this problem permanently.

There were also reports of similar incidents in the Cudworth Grove/Barnsley Street and Buckingham Street area. Again, several arrests have been made and different people dealt with for various offences, and we continue to look at this issue and have plans to deal with more individuals in the coming days and weeks. We are also working alongside partners such as Hull city council ASB team to tackle this issue.

The most recent Humber talking Surveys showed that the areas of most concerns for residents was drug dealing, anti-social behaviour, dog fouling and drug taking.

We have recently dealt with an Organised Crime Group who were heavily involved in drug dealing and a number of these individual are now remanded in custody awaiting trials and/or sentencing for being concerned in the supply of class a drugs.

Your concerns around drug dealing are one of our main priorities for the Drypool Community Police Team. We continue to develop intelligence around drug dealing and drug misuse. Your continued support to report issues helps us build a better intelligence pattern and ultimately results in warrants being granted for searches of properties.

You can report issues and concerns online but using the link below:
