Good afternoon, A Leeds man has been jailed for dangerous driving following a police pursuit that started on the A64 and ended on the A19 near Easingwold.
Kenan Joseph, 23, previously of Harehills, was jailed for 16 months after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving without insurance and possessing cannabis.
He was also banned from driving for three years and eight months, ordered to take an extended driving test before he can get his licence back, and ordered to pay compensation of £1,340.
On 25 April 2025, officers indicated to Joseph to stop as he travelled along the A64 near Bilborough Top. He failed to stop and drove off at high speed.
He continued on his way reaching speeds of over 100mph, crossing double white lines and driving on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic. He collided with a number of vehicles in the process.
Officers brought his vehicle to stop after using a stinger device to deflate its tyres on the A19 near Easingwold.
Arresting officer, PC Scott Sharlotte of our Specialist Operations Unit, said: “On his arrest Joseph was rude and abusive and said he did not care that he put other road users in danger.
“Now that he is in prison, he has time to reflect on that and should think himself lucky that the most serious charge he faced was for dangerous driving and nothing more catastrophic.
“We will not tolerate such driving and will use all of our specialist skills and equipment to deny criminals and dangerous drivers the use of the road.”
Joseph was sentence to 14 months in jail for dangerous driving and two months in jail for failing to provide a specimen for analysis to run consecutively, making a total of 16 months’ imprisonment. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1BbPMXCSuk/
