Westcotes Weekly Update

Good Evening

Here is your weekly update regarding matters in your area.

This week has the team have been very involved in Operation Sceptre which relates to Knife Crime and is part of a national week of action. Due to this the team have conducted searches of parks and other areas locally re possible discarded weapons, with 2x knives and needles being located. Also proactive patrols have been completed of specific areas.

Further to this we have conducted a joint operation with Trading Standards to test local businesses regarding under age sales of knives. I can confirm that x6 businesses were tested and sadly x1 failed. This failure by a shop staff member is now being investigated by Trading Standards and could result in legal action/court. But on a positive note the other businesses did well and challenged/refused to sell the items.

This week we have also arrested a female for multiple thefts, whom then sadly assaulted a officer causing minor injury.

A male was also arrested regarding an active ‘Recall to Prison’ after breaching his license conditions. He will now go back to Prison and continue a further sentence.

A male was also arrested for Breaching his Criminal Behavior Order.

I have previously mention about concerns of empty properties and them on occasions being entered and used by drug users. This week we established that a property had been accessed and misused for drugs on Wilberforce Road. This address has now been secured with support of the landlord. We advise anyone who lives near a empty home to keep an eye on this and report any suspicious activity quickly to prevent things possibility escalating re Anti-Social Behavior.

We have also seen an increase in Motorbikes being ridden in the area and used by criminals to try and steal other motorbikes. We have located 2 stolen motorbikes today. Again if you see motorbikes being ridden by people with marks or no helmets on etc, we recommend you reporting this to use if you think is suspicious or a nuisance. Also if you notice a motorbike which isn't usually in your communal entry or nearby footpath etc, please contact us and we can inspect the vehicle as it could be stolen.

Our next beat surgery is - 2nd June between 10am to 12 at Tesco New Parks Street. Please pop and have a chat with PCSO's Zed & Mark.

Thank you

Matt
