Electric Vehicle Charging Points being Targeted.

Dear Local Community member,

I wanted to drop a message to you - this message is just for awareness that a Home Electrical Vehicle charging point has been targeted overnight in the BEVERE. I believe the charger wire has been stripped of copper. No other houses have been targeted- the vehicle was not on charge at the time.

Previously commercial business have been targeted - Due to this being the first home charging point I have seen reported, I wanted to send a message out to you to raise awareness.

From checking on google for safety of these i have found a few options-

- Don't leave the charger cable outside on view.

- Place the charger cable either within the house/garage or in the boot of the vehicle not show.

- Some chargers allow for a a padlock to be placed on the cable whilst it is on charge.

- Padlock the wire around a tow rope anchor if one is available at the rear of your vehicle.

- If out and about you could padlock the wire to a bollard if there is one where you are charging your vehicle.

- If you have alloys and are short of options - you could place the wire around the alloys and then padlock.

- at home you can use cable cover ramps and have the wires under there with the car on top to protect the wires - leaving a car parked on top of wires would not be advised as this could break down the wires over time and weaken the protective cover.

This is not an exhaustive list and there will be more ways which you keep your cable secure - this is just a few ideas which i have found which maybe of use.

Have an amazing bank holiday

Kind regards
