Dear Residents and Local Businesses,
Here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, to let you know some of what we've been busy dealing with:
OUR PRIORITIES 1. Anti-Social Behaviour in the area, Wood End, Coventry. Key locations being, Hillmorton road, Deedmore road, Moat House park and Ringwood highway. This will remain a local priority or next 3 months due to lighter summer nights. Action taken: We have been carrying out patrols of these areas on foot and in vehicles. With the help of officers on our schools team, we have been able to identify many of the young people involved in the anti-social behaviour. Which has resulted in visits to home addresses, and in some cases, banning letters issued and Social housing landlords informed.
2. Business crime and retail theft. Reports of repeat thefts at several stores across the area. Action Taken: We have arrested several people involved in thefts from shops and put them before the courts. Many of them have received custodial sentences.
3. Addressing community concerns about the illegal and antisocial use of off road bikes, quad bikes and e scooters, dangerous driving, thefts and the broader impact on public safety. Action taken: We have recently recovered several illegal and stolen motorcycles from the area which we suspect to have been used to commit anti-social behaviour. We are also working with our Traffic department’s Off Road Bike Team to carry out operations using drones, resulting in several bikes being seized whilst in use.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT One of our PCSOs attended Whittle Academy to give a talk to the children and a Q&A session.
PACT MEETING We are planning to hold another PACT meeting in August. Further details will be announced in due course. Please keep an eye on these emails where we will advertise the meetings.
CUPPA WITH A COPPA We have arranged a CUPPA WITH A COPPA event for residents from the Henley and Longford areas, and the details are as follows: Thursday 19th June at 5pm. At Bell Green Library, Riley Square, Coventry, CV2 1LS. There will be a PCSO at the meeting who can assist with communication in British Sign Language. Everyone welcome.
VEHICLE SEIZURES One vehicle was seized by officers on our team as it was parked on the public highway with no Road Tax.
ARRESTS One person was arrested by our officers for harassment.
