OP Sceptre

🚫 Op Sceptre πŸ”ͺ

Yesterday saw us focussed on the leisure centre with our metal detector to ensure this isn't a place where people are hiding knives which could be used in crime.

Today, PCSO's Dave HANCOCK, Sam FELLOWS alongside PC's Ash Cutt and Jake STONE have used their local knowledge of the area and conducted a knife sweep of the Millennium Green in New Houghton.

We do this as part of the national fight against knife crime in order to keep our streets safe and also to educate our local children on the dangers of carrying knives.

We made time to have a kick about on the park with the children who were playing football ⚽

πŸ”ͺWhat is a knife sweep?

This is where officers visit a specific area – very often parks and recreation grounds with hidden spaces – and do a thorough search for knives or any sharp object which could potentially pose a risk.

Please let us know if you do know anyone who is considering carrying a knife, (or who already does):
