ESCOOTERS

Good Afternoon Resident,

If you find this information helpful please rate this message at the bottom ‘useful or not’ – it’s very quick and simple.

Earlier on I was on foot patrol in Boorley Green and saw an Escooter being used in public, so I went to the young person’s home address and spoke to the parent and gave educational advice about this being illegal.

Sometime later while I was still on patrol near to the Sports Pavillion a man in a car pulled up to me and asked if I had spoken to someone earlier about an Escooter. I answered yes and then whilst in the car with another adult and children in the back, he became quite unpleasant and angry towards me. Clearly he does not agree with the law, or me doing my job.

For anyone with the same views - If you don’t agree with the law, may I please suggest you speak to your local MP. Obviously I don’t make the laws, however it is my job to do what I can, when I can, to uphold them, without fear or favour. I don’t get to pick and choose only to speak to the children and not the adults, or only the adults and not the children, or only the really fast illegal Escooters and leave the slower illegal Escooters riders / parents alone – they all get spoken to, because they are all illegal.

And I know that there are lots about being used illegally, but that doesn’t make it right just because there are lots about. And yes I know lots of police officers drive past Escooters being used illegally – unfortunately the officers will most likely be on their way to an incident that will almost certainly be a higher priority than seizing and destroying an Escooter. Nevertheless PC’s do stop sometimes, seize and destroy them. I however, have always and will always, do whatever I can to deal with an Escooter at the time – i.e. do my job.

Parent/s, adults, please do the right thing and do not buy these illegal ‘vehicles’ for either yourself or your children to use.
