Weekly update from the South Yardley Neighbourhood policing team

Dear Members,

Here’s a quick round up from the South Yardley neighbourhood policing team.

What’s been happening:
Firstly, we want to apologise on not receiving your weekly updates in the past few weeks. In this you will find a backdate of all that has been happening.

AOB: It has been a busy month for us all across Birmingham and especially neighbourhood. We are currently supporting out colleagues from other departments due to high demand of calls and response required for our attention. This does mean we have slipped a little behind but, we are still conducting patrols as and where we can and some updates have been put out on patrols in the local parks conducting sweeps with our dog unit.

We have also requested for our off roaders to come over and conduct some patrols in the last week in hot spot parts. They are due to come over again in the coming weeks. All results once obtained will be shared with you all. We are aware with the increase in warmer weather this can cause an escalation of anti-social behaviour and for any reason we are unable to attend in the first instance, we will do our upmost to conduct a follow up or request for that additional support in our absence.

We are due our new restructure soon and results for this will be shared once confirmed and we are expecting this to take place in the coming weeks. Stay tuned on this as it will be important information for you all. This has caused some things to be postponed until further notice. This will include various projects and meetings with the community.

We conducted an operation in one of our bar and grills on patch with support from our Drone and Dogs unit. We were able to successfully detain and stop and search 5 individuals and 1 was arrested for possession with intent to supply class A and possessing or distributing prohibited weapons or ammunition. Issues surrounding our local pubs/restaurants we are aware of and we will be conducting these operations going forward to all on the patch.

We are aware of reports regarding speeding on the Coventry road and the use of off-road vehicles in our parks. As per above we have patrols being conducted by our Road Harm Prevention Team and we will be seeking upon additional support from our traffic department. We are awaiting further details from our Speed Mobile department to be able to provide additional support to help reduce the speed on our roads.
