Welcome to another newsletter from your local Association covering the Peterborough city area and villages. We hope you are enjoying the early Spring sunshine, it of course enables you to keep your Watch scheme more active by maybe running any get togethers and seeing more neighbours out and about to speak to.

Please don't forget to book your place at the forthcoming Conference and AGM                                        - Neighbourhood Safety Together -      

It will include a short formal session on AGM business the remainder of the Conference is informing you about the different organisations and watch schemes that help to keep our neighbourhoods safe. We will have a senior local police officer with us, a guest from the City Council's enforcement and problem solving team to explain how it operates and how we can be part of the solutions .  The Bobby Scheme will be with us and some of your fellow Watch coordinators will be explaining how they have drawn neighbours together to help make a difference.

Operation Mark It continues to be rolled out across the central neighbourhoods of Peterborough. This Safer Streets 5 initiative with sees more free Mark It kits delivered  to homes in that area. The kits include invitations and requests for residents to security mark their stealable property, whether inside their homes, outside and left in vans and cars.  Also they are strongly urged to register their stealable property on the national property register on IMMOBILSE.com

Leading the way is St Mary's Close with a high percentage of property already Operation Mark It marked. Notice the new street sign to warn off thieves.

With all this sunshine we are experiencing it may be a good time to think about garden security in the form of protecting your hanging baskets from theft.  The Association is selling hanging basket locks on the website nwpeterborough.co.uk    Well worth just a few pounds at a members discount.

Often they will have a crime or crime prevention 

action to resolve. We are always pleased to help

 and support whenever we can

 

 

E Cops or Neighbourhood Watch ?

E Cops enables you to receive messages and information from the police.

Neighbourhood Watch also receives the same messages but also includes increased neighbourliness, more crime prevention practices and the reporting of suspicious and those matters of concern. Members feel less lonely and more linked in with their neighbours. Take a look at the Peterborough area website

Retirement - Our chair Alan Paul will be standing down from the chairs role for the Association at the AGM on 14th June, he is retiring from front line Neighbourhood Watch which will be the end of his 56 years on the law and order - community safety agendas including 12 years as the chair for the Peterborough area.

Please forward any nominations for the post to the secretary at craigeaseman@hotmail.co.uk  by 5th June.

 

An Invitation- can we invite you to join us on the Action Group of coordinators. We next meet on the 29th May, we meet with the police and other agencies as a standing arrangement. The role is flexible, voluntary, all you need is some experience with neighbourhood watch, have an opinion on related matters and be willing to help with a range of activities, including meeting people, attending outside events, supporting the Association with your knowledge and skills.  Please contact the secretary for more information.
