Local Priorities Drug dealing/ drug use Concern Update

Dear Resident,

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding drug dealing/ drug use, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible.

Drug dealing and taking is a key priority we are committed to tackle. Drug dealers regularly exploit young and vulnerable people and is linked with antisocial behaviour and violent crimes.

Your local Cricket Green officers were out on patrol this evening on Batsworth Road, Mitcham following reports that people might be involved in drug taking and/or dealing. A group of 5 males were stopped and searched. One male was found to be in possession of cannabis and was issued with a £90 fine. Throughout the shift the team carried out a total of 10 other stop and searches across the ward for both drugs and stolen property but these were negative

We will continue to patrol the area and I would encourage residents to report suspicious activity to us on 101 or 999.

If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org
