Op Sceptre- Eckington

Resident

***Op Sceptre***

The 19th May- 25th May is Op Sceptre week for the team.

Operation Sceptre is a national initiative aimed at targeting and raising awareness around knife crime.
It is a twice-yearly opportunity to showcase what we are doing to educate people on knife crime and keep weapons off the streets. Over the course of the week, you'll be seeing officers all over the county taking part in a range of activities to do just this.

During the week the Eckington team will be involved in various activities across Eckington, Spinkhill, Renishaw, Ridgeway, Marsh Lane and Troway.

This will include things like Knife amnesty's, Knife sweeps and School talks for the Children to try and educate them around knifes.

Did you know...

🔪 That 7 out of 10 people carrying a knife will have that knife used against them.
🔪 Knives are the most common weapons used in the killing of young people.
🔪 Most people will state ‘I was there but I didn’t stab the person who got killed, so I won’t get in trouble’ – this isn’t untrue. Under joint enterprise you can be charged with the same crimes as the person who did the stabbing if you were there.

Knife Amnesty's are:-

Eckington Swimming Baths Tuesday 20th May @13:30-14:30hrs

Renishaw & Spinkhill Community Hall Wednesday 21st May @ 17:00-18:00hrs

&

We will also be visiting the Coffee Afternoon at Green Lawns Marsh Lane Thursday 22nd May @ 14:00- 15:30hrs.

🔪What is the amnesty? The amnesty is an opportunity for people to freely hand in their unused or unwanted knives. This helps ensure they are stored safely and don’t fall into the wrong hands.
