Dear Resident Hope you are having a lovely week and looking forward to the weekend ahead. Here’s a quick round up on what we’ve been doing over the last couple of weeks Operation Prosper Last month we launched Operation Prosper a dedicated operation to crack down on organised crime and anti-social behaviour. Op Prosper which has been funded by £25,000 from the PCC, will see the establishment of a new targeted enforcement team to crack down on youth violence, organised crime and increase confidence in policing in the town. The operation will concentrate on reducing organised criminal activity in known hotspot locations within the St Matthew’s ward aiming to significantly improve community safety and public trust in the police. Op Prosper is already proving to be a huge success in Walsall as our dedicated team combats anti-social behaviour and organised criminality with 20 arrests made so far. More details on Operation Prosper can be found here Working with our partners We continue to work with our partners to tackle issues across the ward. Last week we worked with Trading Standards and visited numerous shops to advise them on underage sales and food labelling. We seized a quantity of illegal cigarettes and tobacco from one store. Community Engagement Over the last couple of weeks, we have carried out numerous engagement activities across St Matthew’s, providing opportunities for people to meet us, raise concerns, ask questions and ask for crime prevention advice. Community events also allow us to tell people what we are doing to tackle issues across the area. Some of these engagement activities have included: Local Community Priorities You will know from our previous message earlier this week that we held our first Partners and Communities Together Meeting last week. Below are the priorities that police and partners have agreed to tackle with the support of our community. A big thank you to…. All of our community safety volunteers, including our Street Watch, Neighbourhood Watch and Community Speed Watch schemes who we have worked with over the last couple of weeks. Your support towards community safety is appreciated by us and your neighbours. Have you heard of Ask the Police? Ask the Police' is an official police resource that provides the answers to a wide variety of policing questions frequently asked by the general public. It offers an alternative online option, reducing calls to the police, freeing up resources and saving money. Give it a try: www.askthe.police.uk
