Vehicle interference and theft

We are asking for any CCTV following a number of Vehicle interference's in Barlby where a number of high priced items have been taken from the vehicles.

The incidents occurred sometime between the hours of 7pm on the 14th May and 8am on the 15th May. The locations of the thefts all took place across Barlby village. If you have any CCTV or have seen anything suspicious in the area during the above times contact the police on 101 and quote the relevant reference number below,

Maple Tree Avenue - 12250087214

Howden Road - 12250086727

Cherry Tree Court - 12250086803

We are aware of the impact that this has on the local community, but please be reassured that your neighbourhood policing team will be looking into the matter further.

Theft from motor vehicles are often opportunistic and offenders, hoping that the vehicle is unlocked, will try door handles. Please remain vigilant, ensure all doors are locked and that you do not leave valuables inside your vehicles.

Your mobile phone, coins for the car park, sunglasses, packs of medication or other items that can earn quick cash are irresistible to the opportunist thief.

Make sure to physically check that doors and window are locked, especially if you have used the remote to lock the vehicle, then look inside again to make sure you’ve not left anything on display, including ensuring that your glove box is closed.

Vans are often targeted by thieves for the tools stored inside. If you must leave tools in a van overnight, it's a good idea to mark them clearly with your name / company name and address using paint pens and seal with a clear lacquer spray. Items that are clearly marked are less desirable and more difficult to sell on.
