A knife amnesty is being run in Gloucestershire next week as part of a larger national campaign.
Op Sceptre, which aims to take bladed weapons off the streets, runs between the 19th – 25th May this year and is part of a campaign which sees dedicated amnesty bins being placed in key police stations around the county. Last year, the campaign which ran in May 2024, saw a total of 281 knives handed in around the County.
If you have a knife in your possession, or are aware of a member of your family who is in possession of one, there will be amnesty bins located at Hesters Way Police Station in Cheltenham, Bearlands in Gloucester, Stroud, Coleford and Cirencester. Anyone wanting to dispose of a knife in these bins are advised to visit one of these Police stations during that week and use a few sheets of newspaper or cardboard to wrap the knife, ensuring that there is enough material to prevent it piercing through.
These amnesty bins will be used to dispose of the knives handed in at the end of the week, and there will be no questions from Police regarding the knife or its possession.
