I hope you're well and enjoying the lovely weather we're currently having. Unfortunately, I've been busy this evening dealing with reported issues, but I wanted to provide a brief update.

Burglaries have decreased in Birstall and the surrounding areas, which is great news. However, please do not become complacent—always consider the security of your home and property. With the warmer weather, it's easy to leave windows open, but please be mindful that this can be an opportunity for someone to take advantage. Stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity without delay.

Theft from unattended vehicles is currently a concern in Birstall. We've had 15 incidents reported in the last 28 days, mostly occurring overnight (early hours of the morning). The affected locations include:

Please double-check that your vehicle is locked and secure. It appears that many of the targeted vehicles may have been left unlocked at the time of the thefts.

In response, we’ve increased patrols using our specialist support departments (Firearms and Traffic) as well as our Neighbourhood Proactive Team. If you see anything suspicious, report it immediately—your support is vital in helping us catch those responsible.

I've also noticed an increase in the use of e-scooters and illegal e-bikes around the village. I’m planning a local operation to address this and will take appropriate and proportionate action.
