Yesterday evening (10/05/2025) neighbourhood officers were on patrol on Wilmslow Road where the driver of this BMW decided it was acceptable to do burnouts (deliberate wheel spins) and drive through a red light in front of a police car. The driver was laughing when we stopped him and didn't see the big deal. His attitude soon changed when we discovered he was driving on an invalid foreign driving license and had 22 points already recorded against him for other traffic offences.
Deliberately performing wheel spins and excessive revving of engines is not only anti-social, it is a road traffic offence that can result in points on your license, a driving ban or worse.
This driver will be summonsed to court for Careless and inconsiderate driving, failing to comply with a red traffic signal and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence. His BMW was seized and has been impounded by Police, at his expense, until he can provide the correct documents. Please be careful on the roads and considerate to all road users.
